Building Hope, Healing Lives: Our Journey in Ethiopia

Follow along with us as we embark on this journey that God has called us on to serve the people of Ethiopia at Soddo Christian Hospital.

The Cobos Family

We believe that God has called us to serve the people of Ethiopia. Rachel is a board-certified general and critical care surgeon, and Luis is a registered professional engineer. Together with our four children: Daniel, Emma, Isabelle, and Joshua, we will partner with Soddo Christian Hospital to disciple local African doctors and local believers to become faith leaders to heal and build up their communities.

About PAACS

The Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) trains African physicians to be surgeons to care for the poor and the sick. PAACS also disciples these surgeons to bring hope to those who are suffering.

Soddo Christian Hospital

Soddo Christian Hospital is located in southern Ethiopia, where limited health care is available for a population of more than 20.77 million people.

With a population of approximately 200,000 people, Soddo serves as the center of the Wolaitta region, which is home to around 2.5 million inhabitants. This region is characterized by high population density and significant levels of poverty.

In order to keep costs low for the patients, international staff are not paid by the hospital. We rely on support from generous friends and other compassionate individuals that believe in what we are trying to do.
